Yearry Panji Setianto, Ph.D., is a lecturer in the Journalism Program at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara, where he teaches Communication Theory, Research Methods, and Media Studies. Previously, he taught at the Department of Communication, Universitas Indonesia, and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa.
He earned his doctoral degree in 2016 through a Fulbright scholarship at the School of Media Arts and Studies, Ohio University. He further broadened his expertise by attending Summer Schools on big data at Queensland University of Technology in 2018 and at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2019.
Yearry’s research focuses on the everyday use of digital and social media in Southeast Asia. His work has been presented in various academic forums, including Southeast Asian Studies, Journal of Media and Religion, and international conferences such as the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and the Association of Internet Researchers (AoIR). In 2019, he was a Visiting Researcher at the Digital Ethnography Research Center (DERC), RMIT University.
Currently, Yearry is researching the impact of datafication on Indonesian society and exploring how media in Indonesia contributes to public discourse on artificial intelligence.
