Silvanus Alvin is a millennial lecturer at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), part of the Kompas Gramedia Group, with a keen interest in political communication. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science in 2013 from UMN, specializing in Journalism. Supported by a study recommendation from Vice President Jusuf Kalla and an LPDP Scholarship, Alvin went on to complete his Master’s degree in Media and Public Relations at the University of Leicester, United Kingdom, in 2018.
Before becoming a lecturer, Alvin gained valuable experience as a journalist at Kompas.com (2010), Detik.com (2012), and Liputan6.com (2012–2016). His last position was as a presidential correspondent, during which he had the opportunity to join President Joko Widodo on official visits to South Korea and Russia. After the 2019 presidential election, he was also invited to the State Palace for a personal meeting with President Jokowi.
