Dr. Anne Nurfarina, S.Sn., M.Sn. is an academic, designer, and inclusion activist dedicated to advancing art education and art-based therapy for disability communities. Born in Bandung on June 16, 1968, she currently serves as a permanent faculty member in the Visual Communication Design Program at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), holding the academic rank of Lektor (Associate Lecturer).
She earned her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in Fine Arts and Design from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and is widely recognized for her contributions to inclusive education and the development of art therapy. She is the founder of several pioneering initiatives, including the Metode Sensasi (2012), an art-therapy-based communication method for individuals with autism; the Art Therapy Center Widyatama (2014), a vocational school integrating art therapy; and the Creative Business of Disabled Communities (CIDCO) (2018), a student enterprise that empowers persons with disabilities through creative and inclusive approaches.
Her professional career spans the creative industry, government, higher education, and non-profit organizations. She has held roles such as Marketing Manager at Pondok Indah Gallery, Graphic Designer at the Ministry of Environment, and Dean of the Faculty of Visual Communication Design at Universitas Widyatama. She also serves actively in professional and advocacy organizations, including PORTADIN (Parents and Families Association of Persons with Disabilities) as Head of the Expert Council, AIDIA (Indonesian Association of Visual Communication Design Professionals) as a Board Advisor, and as a Commissioner of the Professional Certification Institute (LSP) DKV AIDIA.
In recognition of her dedication and impact, Dr. Anne Nurfarina has received prestigious awards, including the Education Award from the International Council of Design (ICoD) (2022–2024) and the Creative Inclusivity Award from the City Government of Bandung as part of the Kreator Kota Bandung initiative (2024).
As an educator, art therapist, and community leader, Dr. Anne Nurfarina continues to inspire through her integration of art, design, and humanity in fostering diversity and inclusivity in society.
