Tangerang—Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) hosted a visit from Sebelas Maret State University (UNS) on Tuesday (June 24, 2025). The meeting between the two universities was an effort to introduce each other’s Electrical Engineering programs and explore collaboration opportunities.
“There have indeed been visits to several locations from our Electrical Engineering program. Yesterday we visited Yogyakarta, Magelang, and surrounding areas, followed by East Java, to explore collaboration opportunities with industries and universities, as our program is still relatively new. Our program was established in 2014,” Miftahul Anwar, a representative from Sebelas Maret University, said at the event.
In addition, he mentioned that UNS’s visit to UMN was to share what both universities are doing and explore potential opportunities for collaboration.
“Our goal here is to share a little– share what we are doing and perhaps there are opportunities here that we can collaborate on. And secondly, as the new program head, our master’s program will only open in 2024, so we might as well introduce it and explore various potential collaboration opportunities,” he said.

Meanwhile, Niki Prastomo, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics at UMN, also introduced the Electrical Engineering program, which has been running since 2016.
“Given the commonality in the field of Electrical Engineering, although we currently do not have a master’s program—as we are still at the undergraduate level, we see potential for collaboration in research, community service, or teaching. I see opportunities for collaboration in thesis supervision, for example, or master’s theses, leading to further research collaboration in the future,” he said.
Additionally, another UMN representative, Ahmad Syahril Muharrom, Head of the UMN Electrical Engineering Program, mentioned that the number of students is one of the challenges currently faced by the UMN Electrical Engineering Department.
“Established in 2016, our program is pretty new. We are continuing to grow, particularly in terms of increasing the number of students. This is a challenge for us, especially as a private institution. Perhaps we can also learn about the condition of students or student quality, the situation in Solo and its surrounding areas, and the scope of students studying there. Then, the challenges and strategies implemented,” he explained.
He also mentioned that the Electrical Engineering program at UNS has three concentrations, which may overlap with the Electrical Engineering program at UMN.
It is hoped that this meeting between representatives from UMN and UNS will open doors for collaboration and the development of the Electrical Engineering program in the future. The meeting also serves as an opportunity for both parties to learn from one another to produce outstanding graduates in the future.
