Tangerang—On Wednesday (02/07/2025), the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics at UMN held an expert talk with Philipus Silaen, M.T.I., VP of System Development at PT Cetta Trans Digital. This expert talk focused on “The Implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the HealthTech and Environment Industries.” Faculty members and students from the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics attended the event.
Currently, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is not merely a system that answers users’ questions, as we know it in generative AI. AI can also be implemented across various industries. In this expert talk, the discussion focused on how AI systems operate within the health and environmental industries, both in terms of their systems and programs.
“AI is beneficial in heatmap modeling and mapping, allowing us to monitor air quality, temperature, and weather forecasts. Beyond assisting in creating new computational models, this system is also highly beneficial and intriguing for research purposes,” Philipus stated.
During this session, Philipus also explained how flowcharts and AI implementation work in this application. Additionally, AI implementation is highly beneficial for more comprehensive weather forecasting and clearly understanding air quality, temperature, and much more.
“Beyond the environmental industry, this AI implementation is also applied in healthcare or HealthTech. In developing the application, we create a system similar to Chat GPT but tailored for doctors. In this HealthTech application, various tasks can be performed, such as reading X-rays, storing patient historical data, and much more,” Philipus added.
Philipus stated that this system is embedded in doctors’ laptops or computers, and it greatly assists doctors’ work, allowing them to focus more on patients and providing more complete and clear information. From a work management perspective, Philipus also noted that AI implementation is more efficient and saves time.
“This expert talk is very useful and important for both students and faculty members. I hope we can collaborate and contribute to the technical aspects of system development. I am confident that many UMN students and faculty members are talented in this field,” Dr. Eng. Niki Prastomo, S.T., M.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, said, closing the Expert Talk.
